The Comfiest (Plus Size) Clothes On The Internet
When we decided we were going to leave the city and head upstate I knew I wanted to pack a suitcase filled with comfortable clothing that I could just hang out in, but also feel like a decent human being in. At home the majority of the comfy clothing I wear includes a camp sweatshirt from 1998 that has thumb holes cut out by a second grader (that second grader was me). And a pair of old college sweatpants I've had for years that aren't even from the college I went to. How did I get them? I have no clue.
So, I packed all the comfy, but cute sweaters I could find and decided maybe it's time adult Maxey revisits her lounge wear options and elevates it a bit. What do you think?
I went out and hunted the web for some of my favorite pieces I could find from brands I already love and some brands I'm excited to try.
Here is a list of the comfiest and coziest couch-bound items I could find in inclusive sizing (or noted otherwise).
Both the price and size I wear is listed under each piece.
This Ryllace sweater has been a game changer for me. I think it was actually my first piece of cashmere clothing and… wow. That’s all you need to know. I now own it in three different styles and colors. I could not recommend it more. 2x $$$
I love the sweater, but I’d love it even more if it were a set. So, let’s fake it shall we? I don’t own these joggers, but that will be changing today. Pairing the cashmere sweater with these cashmere joggers sounds like an absolute dream. I haven’t tried Summersalt’s lounge wear yet, but I own a few of their bathing suits and I’m always impressed by them. 2x $$$
I stumbled upon the Kim + Ono store on my trip to San Francisco earlier this year. I was disappointed (but not totally surprised) by their lack of plus size options. Then a few weeks later I was on set for a bridal photoshoot and they had me wearing some of the Kim + Ono pieces. Turns out in just those couple weeks from visiting their store to this shoot- they launched extended sizes. They were kind enough to send me this gorgeous robe in emerald and I’m in love. One Size $$$
I’ve been a big fan of Beyond Yoga since they launched plus and I own (both gifted and bought) a few of their leggings. I checked out their site today and these velour leggings intrigued me the most. They reminded me of pre-teen Maxey who wore her mom’s velvet leggings and thought she was way too cool for school (honestly, she wasn’t wrong.) I love their fit. Their leggings never seem to gather in the crotch for me and always hit at a high rise. 2x $$
You can pair those leggings with anything you want, but if I’m hanging at home getting some work done, but also trying to reinforce to my boyfriend that my sex appeal still exists then I’d pair it with this cropped tank for a velvety dream. 2x $$
Speaking of florals. Don’t you think we all need a floral mumu? Now that our plus size options include waaaaay more than just a floral mumus (does Homer Simpson come to mind for anyone else?), maybe it’s time we venture back to our roots and acknowledge that maybe they aren’t all that bad? Well, this Natori definitely ain’t bad. It’s amazing in fact! 2x $$$
Anthropologie’s aesthetic is pure goals. Anytime I dream of being a bohemian goddess in nature- I go straight to their site (this is more often than I’d like to admit). These boho joggers again remind me of my summer camp days. Anyone else? I also love the way they paired it with a simple t-shirt. 2x $$
And Comfort is a small, sustainable, and inclusive brand that reached out to me when they first launched. They sent me this t-shirt which very quickly became a staple in my wardrobe. Yes, I wear it out and about- plenty, but it’s also the perfect comfort tee. I appreciate the longer sleeve length (looks cool cuffed) and the quality. It would look super cute with those boho joggers. 2x $
Lunya is one of those brands who show up in my IG dashboard daily, but frustrates me because they don’t fit me. Well, after a little detective work I saw that they’re slowly starting to expand. When I say slowly, I do mean slowly. I found one set with size options XL2 and XL3 (which translates to a 16 and 18 on their size chart). Though not at all inclusive by my definition- I wanted to add this one to my list for my smaller followers. Their stuff is stunning! XL3 $$$
Now, if you’re looking for something similar that is truly inclusive (size 00-40!!!!) then check out this simple, but perfect set from Universal Standard. Comes in three colors, but this pink is just too cute. M(18-20) $$
More from Universal Standard! This jumpsuit! This is the kind of thing you wear everyday for a straight week and don’t think twice about it. M(18-20) $$
I’d pair the black jumpsuit (and pretty much everything else in my closet) with this cozy duster cardigan from Target. 2x $
Target has been killing it lately with their sleep and lounge wear items. I own these comfy PJs that I take with me when I travel, but the star of this show are these joggers. I love the color and how soft they are. I have them in black too, but they sold out. 2x $
And last but, definitely not least! Throw on this tie dye sweatshirt with it. I love the colors they used in this one. The cool tones makes it feel extra cozy! 2x $
